If you've been frustrated trying to master digital watercolors, John's Watercolors for Painter are the answer!

  1. Hi John, I noticed that some brushes - which are present in the pdf and videos - are missing from the set. Is it intentional?

  2. Which brushes are missing? Which version of the brushes (IX,X,11,12,X3) do you have installed?

  3. Hi John,

    I use Painter 12.
    The missing ones are:
    Gel Wash
    Gel Blender

  4. The Gel Wash and Gel Blender brushes are only compatible with Painter 11 as they take advantage of a feature only available in the most recent version. I explain this in the Gel Watercolors tutorial movie on the download page. This is why I supply different versions for each major Painter release (IX, X, 11, 12, X3).

If the Gel Wash and Gel Blender brushes were placed in Painter X3 brush libraries, the application wouldn't recognize them. I created the alternate brushes for the pre-Painter 11 versions to mimic as closely as possible the look of the Painter 11 version, but there is no way to duplicate the required feature that is specific to Painter 12 or X3.

I hope this answers your question!
